Park safety

Safety is our top priority, with rigorous standards, continuous improvements and forward-thinking practices that exceed industry requirements to protect our guests and team.

Your safety is our commitment

At Dreamworld and WhiteWater World, we’re committed to keeping you safe while you enjoy a day full of rides, characters, and entertainment. With world-recognised safety best practices guiding everything we do, you can dive into the fun with total peace of mind.

Licenced major amusement park

Dreamworld and WhiteWater World are Major Amusement Parks as licensed by the Queensland Government’s Office of Industrial Relations.
As part of these licences, we operate under a comprehensive Safety Case and supporting Safety Management System.
All Major Amusement Parks are subject to ongoing regulatory oversight which includes independent inspection of rides, slides and our comprehensive safety systems.

Benchmarks and beyond

We’re committed to safety standards that go above and beyond the minimum health and safety requirements set for major amusement parks.
Our proactive approach includes continually enhancing our safety systems and adopting best practices from high-reliability industries like Australian commercial aviation, ensuring our rides operate at the highest possible standard. We’re also forward-thinking and readily adopt new technologies to keep safety measures at the most current and advanced level.

Best practices

We continue to draw on the widely recognised and regarded safety and engineering practices of high reliability industries, such as the Australian commercial aviation industry. This allows us to incorporate practices that surpass the minimum health and safety requirements set for theme parks. With this approach, we are proud to operate the safest rides in the industry.

Our processes

Pre-opening testing

Prior to opening each day, every ride is inspected by our experienced technicians and put through a rigorous ‘pre-open test'. This includes visual inspections and operational tests.
In WhiteWater World, all slides undergo a ‘dry walk-through’ and an operational test with water.

Ongoing maintenance program

Each of our rides and attractions undergo regular maintenance, inspections and an annual scheduled shutdown, where we conduct a thorough engineering review and servicing of all components.

Controlled-stop sensors

All Dreamworld rides are equipped with sensors, which are essential safety features designed to detect any conditions that could impact ride operation.
When a sensor is activated, the ride automatically comes to a controlled stop—this is a normal response and is designed to prioritise your safety.

Aquatic safety

The world’s highest standards

WhiteWater World is proudly part of the Jeff Ellis International (JEI) family, a global network of top water parks, resorts, and aquatic facilities known for excellence in safety and training.
Through JEI's Comprehensive Aquatic Risk Management Program (CARMP), WhiteWater World partners with Safety Skills Training (SST) to deliver industry-leading training programs, ensuring the highest standard of aquatic safety across our park.
